A total of 410 architectural projects from 40 countries have been nominated for the most prestigious distinction in European architecture. From this group, a five-member jury will select the so-called “shortlist” of the best projects. Even the nominations themselves, however, constitute a reliable overview of the most interesting architectural achievements completed over the past two years.

The official name of this most prestigious architectural competition on the continent is the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture. It is commonly referred to as the EUmies Awards, and informally as the Mies van der Rohe Award. The competition has been held on a biennial basis for nearly four decades (the upcoming edition will be the nineteenth), and is organised by the European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe with the headquarters in Barcelona. The award is widely regarded as the highest honour for the creators of the selected projects.

Among the nominees is Marlena Wolnik, MSc Arch., a lecturer of the Architecture faculty at the University of Applied Sciences in Racibórz. We extend our sincere congratulations and wish her every success in the next stage of the competition.
