2025 was an intensive and multifaceted year of conference activity for adjunct in Institute of Technology, Dr. Eng. Mariusz Twardawa, focused on subjects of energy transition, renewable sources of energy and innovation in energy and heating sector.

The participation in nationwide and international events made the exchange of knowledge with industry representatives, public administration and academic community possible, as well as promotion of practical and applied aspects of education implemented in University of Applied Sciences in Racibórz.

In January of 2025, Dr. Eng. Mariusz Twardawa participated in International Solar Energy Expo 2025 in Nadarzyn, taking part in supporting event PIME – Storage Energy Summit 2025, dedicated to energy storage and new models of operation of energy systems. In February he was involved in XII Conference “New Trends in Cogeneration” in Ciechanów, concentrated on development of high-performance cogeneration in context of transformation of the heating sector.

A significant part of conference activities was a presentation at PSME Smart Energy Forum 2025 at the ENEX trade fair in Kielce, where he presented a paper on the potential to reduce operating costs in residential and commercial buildings using thermal energy storage and electrical storage systems. In March 2025 he spoke as a guest speaker during Symposium “Good OSH practices” in Katowice, discussing occupational safety issues in the process of retraining miners for the wind energy sector.

In May 2025 Dr. Eng. Mariusz Twardawa served as a moderator of the conference and discussion panel at the OZE Maintenance Forum in Szczyrk – one of the key industry events dedicated to the practical aspects of operating and maintaining zero-emission sources of electricity and heat. In the autumn, he participated in the 29th Polish District Heating Forum in Międzyzdroje and in the New Mobility Congress in Katowice, devoted to the transformation of transport and the integration of the energy sector with electromobility.

The year culminated in organisational and expert activity during 23rd International Scientific and Technical Conference PIRE 2025, where Dr. Eng. Mariusz Twardawa served as a member of the organising committee and the conference’s scientific board, as well as a moderator of a discussion panel. In December 2025, he also took part in the 2nd Forum of Innovative Public Procurement, organised by the National Centre for Research and Development.

An important element of Dr. Eng. Mariusz Twardawa’s expert portfolio is his involvement in the activities of the National Centre for Research and Development, where he serves as an expert evaluating research and development projects in the fields of energy, district heating, and low-emission technologies. His participation in the assessment and review processes of R&D projects, including within national and European initiatives (such as the CET Partnership), is directly reflected in the themes of his conference presentations and the expert panel discussions he moderates, which focus on the practical aspects of implementing innovative solutions in industry and public sector.

Dr. Eng. Mariusz Twardawa’s conference and expert activity in 2025 constitutes an important element of the cooperation between the Institute of Technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Racibórz and the socio-economic environment, and confirms the high substantive, practical, and application-oriented standard of the teaching and research activities carried out at the institution.
